A Little Irony

bour·geoi·sie
1: middle class ; also plural in construction : members of the middle class
2: a social order dominated by bourgeois

bour·geois
1 : of, relating to, or characteristic of the townsman or of the social middle class
2 : marked by a concern for material interests and respectability and a tendency toward mediocrity
3 : dominated by commercial and industrial interest

M and I saw The Submarines last Tuesday.  Both of us laughed at the irony of their hit song You me and the Bourgeoisie being in an ipod commercial. Apparently the folks at Apple didn’t get the fact that the song mocks their product. It was virtually impossible for M and I to refrain from snarky commentary. It was obvious that many people in the crowd were unaware of the definition of bourgeoisie as they sang along in their logo-ed sweatshop manufactured clothes.
