Persepolis

by @ 9:10 pm. Filed under movies

Thanks to my library card, I am catching up on a lot of movies that I had planned to see in the theater but never actually made it.

Today I watched Persepolis. The film based on Marjane Satrapi‘s autobiographical graphic novel of the same name.  The animation was done in the old school way of ink and paper.  I don’t think that computer animation would have done the original graphic novel justice.

One thought I had after watching the movie was, “What if Disney had gotten a hold of this story?” [I wasn't smoking crack,  I was watching the special features and someone said something about animated features being for children.]  Marjane could have joined the ranks of Pocahontas and Mulan.  They would have definitely made the movie about race instead of a story about surviving in a war torn country.
