sxsw day 7

by @ 6:24 pm. Filed under Eating faces, Music, concerts, movies, sxsw

On the 7th day there was no resting.  M and I were up fairly early so we could get in as many day shows and free beers as possible.  I also wanted to go “Trick-or-Treating” with Lori (we have done it for the past 2 years).

M wanted to stalk Bishop Allen so she skipped out on the swag hunt.  I on the other hand managed to hit the College Party (I left with a nice Alternative Apparel T-shirt), Gibson,  Hey Cole, Filter, American Apparel Flea Market (we didn’t actually go in because they were charging $2 for admission).  It was clear that we were in a recession.  Four parties and I picked up a t-shirt, and a few cds.

I met up with M at the Radio Room (I got a free tote bag from Alternative Apparel and tried to win some stuff) for Bishop Allen (always a favorite and btw. Justin Rice looks like a Precious Moments doll), Au Revoir Simone (sleepy time music best seen during the day), These Arms are Snakes (I am usually not into stuff that hard but they put on a good show), Cursive (I am glad I stuck around for this.  At this point in time the line to get in was about 2 blocks long.), Passion Pit (we weren’t sure how they would sound live and we figured that we would check them out during the day because we knew they would be pretty wasted by 1am).

M had to pick up her wristband for the Fader Fort so we stopped by on the way home.  As always, the Fort was crowded, but that’s what happens when you have free booze and good music. I went home for food and a nap after that.

The evening was pretty full.  I biked to Opal Divines for the Soft Pack, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Matt and Kim (We were in a giant mosh pit but you can’t help but smile and sing along.  We were close enough to eat their faces.  I will definitely write more about the event when M uploads the pics.).  I caught a little bit of Flosstradamus before I headed off to see Amplive at Speakeasy (thank you Speakeasy for being so clean and having couches).  Amplive was a little lame.  I don’t know if he was tired or what.

After the show M and I pedaled back to Mexico.

Cost of today: $0

Free: beer,shirt, and swag

A group of women who decided that it was important to live their lives any way they wanted vs living up to certain cookie cutter standards. Lucky for you they decided to share their adventure.
