was the last day of SXSW. Since I had the benefit of a good night’s sleep, I was up early. I packed, I made breakfast, I printed out the schedule for M and 10HDG. I even had time to call my mom.
The plan was to go Trick-or-treating and then go to a movie. Success! The MPress party was letting people in early and handing out drink tickets. I got my free beer hunter for swag and made it to RIP: A Remix Manifesto on time. The film was amazing. I will tell you more about it later. Until then, I give you the trailer…
After the movie I headed over to the Filter party to see Flosstradamus. I got there early and they were running behind schedule so I managed to catch the Obits and Asobi Seksu. As always Flossy brought down the house. They had the skanky girls shakin’ it on stage and the b-boys sweatin’ in the crowd (Dear Flossy, please put the b-boys on stage and leave the skanky girls in the crowd.)
I biked over to the Cofee No Pants party for Titus Andronicus, Chairlift and the DJs from the Hood Internet. I also shelled out money for beer. I wanted good beer and they had Magic hat on tap for the low price of $5. After the show I headed over to Sidebar to use their bathroom. They have female bartenders so their ladies room is usually clean, and stocked with paper towels, soap and toilet paper.
Normally M and I go to fancy dinner on Saturday. We decided to pass and go to rockstar brunch in the interest of saving time and $$. I headed off to see 500 days of Summer at the Paramount and she was off somewhere with the Brits and 10HDG. While we waited for the movie to start a rumor started spreading around about Kanye West being at the Fader Fort. I decided to stay for the film. Kanye is full of himself. I wanted to sit on my ass and watch a quirky romantic comedy. I think I made the right choice. Here’s another trailer to tide you over…
I caught up with M at the fort. Kanye was there along with Kid Cudi, Big Sean, GLC Consequence, Really Do, Tony Williams, and Mr. Hudson. Common, and Erykah Badu were the special guests. I could have done without Mr. West. Kid Cudi, Common ,and Erykah made the ride accross town worth it.
I was going to let the Fort performance be the finale to my SXSW but M said that we should try and make it to the jellynyc party. But somehow on the walk towards the house we were drawn to the Scoot Inn. We heard Devo’s “whip it” and had to check if Devo was really there. They were not. M and I went inside to find the Aussie dude who was friends with the Brits. M wanted me to meet him. She convinced me that I should stay and hang out with him because Black Francis was playing at the end of the night (later I find out that it was Sage Francis not Black Francis). The Aussie and I saw the whole showcase . Buck65, B.Dolan, Sleep, and Sage Francis. It wasn’t a bad show. It would have been better if I weren’t so tired.
SXSW was now over. Tomorrow I would be leaving Mexico.
