So M and I had gotten pretty good at hipster math (figuring out when the headlining band was going to play). But between the sound ordinance and venues/bands being weird, we have been off by quite a bit.
Last Friday I was thinking about going to Mohawk for the Loxsly cd release party. I figured that with doors at 8 and 4 openers that Loxsly would go on no earlier than midnight (doors at 8, show at 9 with each band playing 30-45 minutes). Most likely they would be on closer to 1am. FAIL.
I after a long week of work I had nestled into my couch in a post beer/pizza coma. Meg sent the first text at 9 asking me if I was coming or not. I wasn’t sure yet. I figured I had time. Then I get a text message at 10:30 saying that Oh no oh my was on next. WTF. According to my estimate they shouldn’t have been on for almost an hour.
I haul ass to get off the couch and into my car. I happen to live about 20 minutes from downtown. I managed to get downtown only to find that the Teacher’s lot was closed. FAIL. Was it worth it to drive around for parking if the show as almost over? Meg alerted me that Loxsly was next. I parked way out in BFE and hiked to the Mohawk. Luckily cover was only $6. That was tollerable if I was only going to see one of 5 bands on the bill for the night.
11:15 Loxsly was on stage. The show was good. It was an even mix of songs from the new and old albums.
So the word on the street is that Mohawk, and many others with outdoor stages, have to wrap things up by midnight.
Plan accordingly readers.
