People are willing to pay $60 for these tickets?

The Middle East @ La Zona Rosa

M and I went to the Middle East/Mumford and Sons show last night.  We bought the tickets after missing the Middle East on several occasions during SXSW.  As the show approached, we were feeling old and debating if we wanted to go to two concerts in one week.  As we walked to the Miike Snow show M checked CL and found out that the tickets were going for about $120 for a pair (we bought them for $15).  Tempting…

Wednesday morning we decided that we should eat our Wheaties and go to the show.  Since the hipster math has done us wrong on many occasions we headed to LZR at 8:30.   The show started around 9ish.   The Middle East was definitely worth the $15 and then some.  They reminded me of Los Campesinos!

Unfortunately about 4 songs in I didn’t feel so great. It was hot and sticky, and there was no air flow where we were standing.  I told M I was going to get water. I managed to get off the platform we were standing on and then my vision was getting blurry.  I have no clue how I managed to get to the water cooler at the bar.   I had a cup of water and wasn’t feeling any better.  I was still blacking out.  I kept drinking water and decided I needed to move somewhere to sit down or something.  No where to sit.  If there were chairs I couldn’t see.  I stumbled over to some sort of table and paused there for a bit.  Someone brought me more water (a bartender maybe).  Then I proceeded to throw up in my mostly empty cup of water.  By this point I wasn’t blacking out and I could set my bearings.  I was at the merch table next to the bar and water jug.  I tossed the cup in the trash and drank more water.  I assessed the damage I caused .  Not bad.  I only got a little puke on the merch table and only a little bit on my shirt.  M only noticed because I pointed it out later.

I stumbled to the bathroom and felt a little better.  When the set ended I texted M to let her know where I was.

we ended up staying around the merch table (I brought back some paper towel to wipe the quarter-sized evidence that I puked there).  we bought a cd and and hung out long enough to meet two members of the Middle East and have them sign it. We also did some people watching [What's up with the girls with the maxi dress uber wedgies?  seriously, how can you not feel the wad of fabric crawling up your ass?]

Since I felt better, M said that we would give Mumford and Sons two songs before leaving.  They were really good. They were sold out 2 times good.  We stayed through the encore.  They reminded us of a way more energetic version of Frightened Rabbit.

PS. Thank you merch table for being a cool space to hang out.  Thank you LZR for having a giant water cooler and cups available.  Thank you to the mystery person who gave me that extra cup of water. Thank you merch table staff for letting my sick ass stay there even after I threw up in the cup.
