sxsw day 7

by @ Monday, March 23rd, 2009. Filed under Eating faces, Music, concerts, movies, sxsw

On the 7th day there was no resting.  M and I were up fairly early so we could get in as many day shows and free beers as possible.  I also wanted to go “Trick-or-Treating” with Lori (we have done it for the past 2 years).

M wanted to stalk Bishop Allen so she skipped out on the swag hunt.  I on the other hand managed to hit the College Party (I left with a nice Alternative Apparel T-shirt), Gibson,  Hey Cole, Filter, American Apparel Flea Market (we didn’t actually go in because they were charging $2 for admission).  It was clear that we were in a recession.  Four parties and I picked up a t-shirt, and a few cds.

I met up with M at the Radio Room (I got a free tote bag from Alternative Apparel and tried to win some stuff) for Bishop Allen (always a favorite and btw. Justin Rice looks like a Precious Moments doll), Au Revoir Simone (sleepy time music best seen during the day), These Arms are Snakes (I am usually not into stuff that hard but they put on a good show), Cursive (I am glad I stuck around for this.  At this point in time the line to get in was about 2 blocks long.), Passion Pit (we weren’t sure how they would sound live and we figured that we would check them out during the day because we knew they would be pretty wasted by 1am).

M had to pick up her wristband for the Fader Fort so we stopped by on the way home.  As always, the Fort was crowded, but that’s what happens when you have free booze and good music. I went home for food and a nap after that.

The evening was pretty full.  I biked to Opal Divines for the Soft Pack, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Matt and Kim (We were in a giant mosh pit but you can’t help but smile and sing along.  We were close enough to eat their faces.  I will definitely write more about the event when M uploads the pics.).  I caught a little bit of Flosstradamus before I headed off to see Amplive at Speakeasy (thank you Speakeasy for being so clean and having couches).  Amplive was a little lame.  I don’t know if he was tired or what.

After the show M and I pedaled back to Mexico.

Cost of today: $0

Free: beer,shirt, and swag

Double face eating, originally uploaded by Limorama.

So I haven’t posted any of these lately. We took this the other night in a cab on the way home from seeing WMMF, and Till We’re Blue or Destroy. It was supremely fun night. Clearly, you can tell by the picture.

Date #10 - Harry Potter (aka Obama guy)

by @ Saturday, December 20th, 2008. Filed under 17dates, Eating faces

Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter (from wikipedia)

Date:November 4 , 2008
Location: Clay Pit, Dog and Duck Pub
Time: 7pm
Duration of date: ~4 hrs
Occupation: Techie/Film maker/Photographer
Age: 28

So I am back to online dating.  I signed up the weekend I was stuck inside with an ear infection.  I emailed this dude.  He seemed like an ok guy.  He emailed back and we decided to meet up sometime.  He called me on Election Day and asked if I was doing anything.  I had no plans so we decided that we would go out for dinner (but we had to go somewhere that had CNN or was near a place with CNN).  So dinner was at Clay Pit (yes, the same place I went on a date with Napoleon Dynomite).

I never do this but we decided to carpool (this meant that I had no escape plan).  I met him at his place and we ended up taking my car.  The date went well.  There weren’t any lulls in conversation and it wasn’t one sided.  After dinner we walked to Dog and Duck to check the election status.  Obama was ahead.  We ended up leaving and going for a walk around the Blanton.  Then we went back to his place.   His roommate had CNN on so I stuck around to see Obama win.

By that time, it was getting pretty late so I grabbed my stuff to go.  He walked me to my car. I decided that he would get a hug (not the awkward one).  He decided to go for it and kiss me.  Then he proceeded to eat my face like a steak and grope me (umm, I don’t know what gave him the idea that groping and eating my face was ok).

When I got home I checked Facebook (mainly to tell Adam that he could come out of hiding).  I checked HP’s site to see if he had anything to say about the election and I saw this…

Not sure what to think about that.  I was ready to drop him like a bad habit.

I got a text message the next day saying that he hoped that I was having a good night and to give me his email address.  I decided to ignore him.  I hadn’t heard back from my peeps about the Twitter post yet.  Thursday I was in east Texas for work but I got in touch with Meg and her man.  The verdict was that HP was hoping to get some on election night.  Celebration sex if Obama wins.  Then HP sends me an email, he wants to see  me again.  I decided to send a quick email to let him know that I was not available until the following week and MAYBE, we could do lunch.

A week later I wanted answers.  I asked him what he meant by the Twitter message.  Since I didn’t know him that well, I was going to give him a chance to explain.

I responded to your initial message not because you are black - I only responded because you and I seemed like perhaps we might be a decent match. Frankly, I was hoping that we would make out by the end of the night, and given Obama’s election would take up quite a bit of the discussion, I was hoping he’d win so we’d have an excuse to make out.
Such was the case, and it was quite enjoyable.

It was merely my calling out to the universe, “let Obama win so we can have an excuse to makeout or more even though we don’t know each other that well” sort of wish.
No more no less.

The reverse syntax of the statement would be something like:
“going on a date w/ a white guy on election night - win (candidate who is white in a parallel universe country that has never had a white president before) win!

Hope FFF fest was swell, if you want to meetup again that’s cool, if not, I enjoyed celebrating a little with you and wish you the best. I’m hopeful for a great turnaround of our country. Yes I comma splice like crazy.
call me if you wish
Harry Potter

I thanked Mr. Potter for his reply and said that I was weired out by the Twitter message.  Usually when race comes up in my world, it is NOT a good thing.  I was tempted to give the dude a second chance but after consulting with my posse, the decision was to not go out with Mr. Potter again.

And on top of that, they were so nice to us after they were done playing, let us take pics with them and everything. Got to talk to them for a few, and I gotta say, I have a new favorite happy band.

So, I said I was posting pics of us eating faces. Well last night I realized that I didn’t have any pics of me eating Jen’s face. I think her expression in this shot is best! I think she’s really frightened. –Don’t worry Jen, I’m not really going to eat yer face like a steak, it’s just posing for the picture.

So, yep, these are the new pictures. We are taking pictures of people eating faces now. I still haven’t worked out that new blog yet, so I’ll just post ‘em here.

I love my face in this one. I look so uncomfortable. I really need to work on making funnier expressions for the camera. Maybe he can give me some lessons.

Jen eats face this time

Jen looks hungry. I guess it was just her turn to eat faces. It’s a good think my face isn’t made of bacon. ‘Cause we all know that’s the gateway meat. Srsly, though, how cute are we?
